{"id":290,"date":"2013-12-03T18:42:00","date_gmt":"2013-12-03T18:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.akron.duonglam.ca\/?page_id=290"},"modified":"2023-10-20T19:43:38","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T19:43:38","slug":"narcotic-reconciliation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.akron.duonglam.ca\/?page_id=290","title":{"rendered":"Narcotic Reconciliation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Inventory count of narcotics should be preformed every 3 months minimal.\u00a0 Counts will be intiated after close of business day.\u00a0 Count to be preformed by 2 assiatants and 1 pharmacist.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Assistans to count all narcotics and controlled drugs in the safe.\u00a0 All benzodiazepines are also to be counted<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Count one item using the count sheet and note the inventory level. \u00a0Ensure all pack sizes are counted. \u00a0Give the sheet to the pharmacist on duty for reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Pharmacist to log inventory level on excel spreadsheet located in \/Dropbox\/Akron\/Narc Count\/Count.\u00a0 Create new copy of count worksheet.\u00a0 Name the worksheet as date. Copy previous count inventory to new worksheet as the On Hand.<\/p>\n<p>4. Locate the correct DIN (use Ctrl-F) in the DIN&#8217;s tab.\u00a0 Enter count under Count column.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0To obtain the Purchased quantity, go to the Pharmaclik website and click on the <strong>Finance<\/strong> tab. \u00a0Select <strong>Statistics<\/strong> and find the items. \u00a0Note, if there are more than one pack size, Purchased quantities for all pack sizes should be summed and entered into purchased quantities.<\/p>\n<p>6. Dispensed Quantity is obtained by printing a report from the Nexxsys software. \u00a0In Nexxsys, click <strong>More<\/strong> and <strong>Reports<\/strong>. \u00a0Select <b>Inventory <\/b>and<strong> Inventory Summery. \u00a0<\/strong>Enter the Start Date as the date of last reconciliation and End Date as today&#8217;s date. \u00a0Total the quantity dispensed and enter in to worksheet.<\/p>\n<p>7. \u00a0Any discrepancy will be calculated and appear in the <strong>Discrepancy\u00a0<\/strong>column.<\/p>\n<p>8. \u00a0Investigate any overages\/shortages. \u00a0Possible sources of errors include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px;\">Balance Owings<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Prescriptions Returned to Stock \u00a0but not reversed in Nexxsys<\/li>\n<li>Differnt DIN was dispensed. \u00a0This may occur when there is a balance owing and backorder.<\/li>\n<li>Preform a DIN report to check there is an actual dispensing by ensuring there is a scan\/physical copy of the prescription.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>9.
