Processing Prescription
When processing Suboxone prescriptions, please include the following information in the directions;
- Duration of the prescription
- Days of the week which doses are to be observed
- Days of the week which doses are carries
As with any narcotic prescription, patient must present identification when filling Suboxone.
Dispensing Observed Doses
- If unknown, confirm patient’s identity.
- Confirm patient is not intoxicated.
- Offer water to moisten mouth.
- Dispense dose in private area and ask patient to place under the tongue but not suck while they dissolve.
- After 1 minute, ask patient to show mouth (chalky residue may remain).
- Ask patient to sign prescription hardcopy to confirm receipt of dose.
