Prescriptions and balance owings that have not been picked up within 30 days of the original entry date should be reversed.
Do not return medications to stock bottles. Instead follow the below procedure.
- Use a sharpie to black out or tear off any personal information including patient’s name and physician’s name on the vial label.
- review the scanned hardcopy to obtain the expiry date for the medication and write on the vial
- return vial to stock shelf for dispensing
- It is important to note that this is only applicable to prescriptions that have not left a community pharmacy. Prescriptions that have left the pharmacy cannot be returned to stock
